The Argentine Federation of University Women (FAMU) was found in Buenos Aires in july 21th of 1936 by prestigious profesional women of academic level, who were inspired and lead by María Teresa Ferrari de Gaudino, medical doctor and first woman in Latin America who became appointed university professor at the Medical School of Buenos Aires in1927.
No doubt FAMU's spirit has been fostered by the same ideals wich guided International Federation of University Women (IFUW), born in 1919 under the motto of Peace and put an end to any kind of war.
